Kalbi Chicken Legs in Air Fryer

Ingredients
  

  • 6 Chicken quarters
  • Kalbi marinade
  • ½ apple
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 2 ” ginger
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 stalks of green onion
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon sweetener I used sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of pepperSesame Seeds Optional, for topping

Method
 

Prepare the Marinade:
  1. In a blender, combine grated apple, minced ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onion, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, pepper, and sesame seeds. Blitz until well combined.
Marinate the Chicken:
  1. Cut slits into the chicken.
  2. Place the chicken quarters in a large zip-top bag or baking dish.
  3. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight for more flavor.
Preheat Air Fryer:
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Air Fry the Chicken:
  1. Remove the chicken from the marinade and shake off any excess.
  2. Place the chicken quarters in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between each piece.
  3. Cook in the preheated air fryer for about 25-30 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  4. Grill the chicken legs:

  6. Preheat the grill.
  7. Grill the chicken on medium heat, turning it a few times until fully cooked at 165 degrees internal temperature. 
Serve:
  1. Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Garnish with additional chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds if desired.
