Honey Garlic Chicken Bites Recipe - Easy, Sticky and Juicy

These Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Bites are delightful!  Enjoy them as an appetizer, a main dish, or even as a party favorite. No matter the occasion, this delicious honey garlic chicken thigh recipe is bound to be a hit.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs (substitute for chicken breasts if desired)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoon avocado oil
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 6 cloves of thinly sliced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Zest of 1 lime and 1 tablespoon of lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • Finely chopped cilantro for garnish

Method
 

1. Prepare the Chicken:
  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the chicken with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

2. Sear the Chicken:
  1. Heat avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
3. Honey Garlic Sauce:
  1. In the same skillet, add honey, sliced minced garlic, and red chili pepper flakes.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the garlic becomes fragrant and slightly caramelized, in a couple of minutes.
  3. Add lime zest, lime juice, and soy sauce. Stir until the sticky sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Add the cold butter at the end to make the sauce glossy and delicious. 
4. Serve and Garnish:
  1. Serve your Honey Garlic Chicken Bites with a bowl of rice and your favorite veggies.
  2. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro for a burst of freshness.

Notes

  • Mise en Place: Make sure all the ingredients are ready before you start cooking. It comes together very quickly.
  • Sear the chicken: Sear the chicken well in a hot pan for a caramelized exterior, then lower to medium for juicy, cooked-through chicken.
  • Do not overcrowd: Make sure you are using a large skillet, do not overcrowd. You want to have a great sear on the chicken. Do it in batches if needed.
