  • Half an onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1 cup rice day old rice is best
  • 2 tablespoon of cold butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • Beef Pepper Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic gratedGarnish with green onions

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
  2. Start by thinly slicing the ribeye steak. Pro tip: freeze the steak for 30 minutes prior, it makes it easier to cut the steak into thin strips.
  3. Slice the onion into thin strips and set aside.
  4. Ensure that the rice is day-old; this helps achieve the perfect texture.
  5. Step 2: Make the Beef Pepper Sauce
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  7. Step 3: Cook Beef Pepper Lunch
  8.
  9. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil and toss in the sliced onions. Sauté until they become translucent and slightly caramelized.
  10. Add the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Move the onions to one side.
  11. Next, add the frozen corn, on the other side. Make room for the rice and the beef ribeye.
  12. Add the beef and sear for 3 minutes (do not touch) until the bottom has a nice crust.
  13. Add the 1 cup of rice, then the 2 tablespoon of cold butter.
  14. Drizzle the Beef Pepper Sauce all over.
  15. Mix everything together.
  16. Garnish with green onions and enjoy!

Notes

High-Quality Beef:
  • Start with high-quality beef, such as sirloin or ribeye, for a tender and flavorful result. Ensure that the beef is thinly sliced to promote even cooking and quicker preparation.
Use a Cast Iron Skillet:
  • Before adding the beef and vegetables, make sure the cooking surface, whether it's a griddle, skillet, or hot plate, is well preheated. This ensures a quick and even sear on the beef, locking in its juices and enhancing the overall flavor.
Mise en Place:
  • Have all the ingredients ready. This dish comes together quickly.
