Ingredients

  • 2 packages of wheat noodles I used Momofuku noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup Thai basil
  • 1 cup of shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup of carrots julienned
  • half of the onion minced
  • 5 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 3 stalks of green onions white and green separated
  • 2 tablespoon grapeseed oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce kecap manis
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet Thai chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • Garnish
  • chili oil or crispgreen onionsesame seeds

Method

  1. Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Prep the vegetables. Shred the cabbage, jullienne the carrots, slice the onion and green onion, and mince the garlic - set it aside.
  3. In a wok, on medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoon of oil, and brown the ground beef.
  4. Leave the beef alone for 3 minutes, this will ensure you get a really nice sear which will give more flavor.
  5. Boil the noodle to the package instructions minus a minute. You will finish cooking it in the wok. Remove and drain. Set aside. Add a little sesame oil to the noodles to prevent them from sticking.
  6. Once the beef is brown, add the garlic and onions. Saute for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the cabbage and carrots and saute for 2 minutes.
  8. Add the noodles and sauce and combine everything.
  9. Add sesame oil, green onion, and Thai basil.
  10. Serve with chili oil and enjoy!
