Asian BBQ Maui Style Beef

5 from 4 votes
You will love this Asian BBQ Maui Style Beef. The pineapple soy ginger marinade is blended until smooth and the beef is marinated for hours then grilled to perfection. This is my favorite way to prepare Asian BBQ beef. You will love these grilled boneless short ribs.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Course: bbq
Cuisine: bbq

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs of beef short ribs boneless and cut into ½-inch thin strips
Asian BBQ Marinade:
  • 1 kiwi peeled
  • 2 stalks green onion
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon garlic
  • 1- inch ginger

Method

  1. Prepare the Asian BBQ marinade
  2. In a blender, put all the ingredients and blend until smooth.
  3.
  4. Prepare the beef
  5. Cut the beef into ½ inch thick strips.
  6. Place the boneless beef shortribs in a large Ziploc bag or a container.
  7. Add the marinade and marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  8.
  9. Air Fry Method
  10. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees.
  11. Air fry the beef for 5 minutes on each side until you get a bit of a char on each side. Refrain from overcrowding as you will steam the beef instead of getting a good sear.
  12. Pan Fry Method
  13. In a large skillet, on medium-high heat, pan-fry the beef for 5 minutes on each side.
  14.
  15. Grill/BBQ
  16.
  17. Preheat the grill, and barbecue the beef for 5 minutes on each side until you get a nice char.

Notes

  • Choose an excellent cut of beef. I used boneless beef short ribs. You can use the traditional “Korean” cut short ribs.
  • Marinate for 2 hours minimum, overnight for best results.
  • Cook them on high heat quickly until you get a nice color.
